The Vancouver Island Symphony’s Summer Pop Up Concerts are back with three beautifully curated shows featuring 5 musicians in each show to celebrate our 5th Summer Pop Up Concert Season. “Join the VIS wind quintet as they explore fun and varied music with a Latin twist! We will be playing music that includes dances, tropical airs, gypsy melodies, and afro-cuban beats….all with the virtuosic and varied sounds of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn. We have fantastic melodies from Mexican, Cuban and Afro-American composers, and we’ll be exploring how modern “classical” wind quintet has branched out from its European roots to include ethnic, folk, jazz, rhythmic and dance elements. Join us this summer for a program that’s lots of fun!”
