VOICES RISING Pre-Concert Celebration at 5:15PM

Music Director Jacques Lacombe leads the Vancouver Opera Orchestra in an evening of duets, arias and more, featuring highlights from Puccini’s sublime masterpiece Madama Butterfly and Strauss’ hilarious operetta Die Fledermaus. VOICES RISING, an inspiring 45 minute pre-concert celebration honouring the power of the human voice will be live on stage from 5:15-6:00pm. Musica intima, one of Canada’s foremost a cappella vocal ensembles, will be joined by several talented guest artists including Sherryl Sewepagaham and members of the Vancouver Youth Choir.

Heather Walker is a core member of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra. When not performing music professionally, she teaches the Alexander Technique out of her home studio in Nanaimo, and workshops throughout Vancouver Island and the B.C. mainland. The Alexander Technique helps us learn to move with efficiency, ease, and freedom, enabling us to change old habits that might lead to pain and injury. The Alexander Technique can be used by anyone.
