Alexander Technique Workshop for CUPE, Nanaimo, October 19

Heather will be presenting a three-hour Alexander Technique workshop for C.U.P.E. members on October 19th, 2012 from 1pm – 4pm. This is part of the Nanaimo school District 68 rofessional development day for support workers and teachers’ aides. The workshop will be held at John Barsby School.

The Alexander Technique is a simple and practical method of body awareness which is used to prevent injuries, relieve muscular pain, improve posture, and use less effort in daily activities. In this workshop we explore the possibility of lightness and freedom of movement, using the Alexander Technique to expand your awareness and change your habits. You can learn how to notice tightening, release muscle tension, re-establish better balance and move more efficiently. Whether you are hoping to recover from stress and injury or just searching for more ease and centeredness in your life, the Alexander Technique is a specific tool to help you.

Alexander Technique Workshop – Nanaimo Conservatory of Music

Heather will be teaching the following Alexander Technique workshop at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music on September 9th, 2012. This workshop is booked for faculty, staff and board members of the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music.

Introduction to the Alexander Technique
(2.5 hour class)
Participants will use practical experiments to learn how to notice tightening, release muscle tension, re-establish better balance and move more efficiently. We will explore techniques to gain body awareness, allowing movement in a more free and enjoyable manner. We will learn how the body is naturally efficiently designed for ease of movement. Participants will learn techniques that can be practiced at home to incorporate these ideas.

This workshop can be specifically tailored for any group, as we will use the principles of the Alexander Technique in relation to the group’s activities.

Alexander Technique Workshop – Canadian International Summer Harp Institute

August 2nd, 2012, 2:00pm-4:00pm

Heather will be teaching an introductory Alexander Technique workshop at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music on August 2nd, 2012.   This workshop is privately booked for the participants of the Canadian International Summer Harp Institute. However, this workshop can be specifically tailored for any group, and we will use the principles of the Alexander Technique in relation to the group’s activities.  Please contact Heather if you would like to book a workshop for your group.

Introduction to the Alexander Technique
(2 hour class)
Practical experiments will be used to learn how to notice tightening, release muscle tension, re-establish better balance and move more efficiently. Participants will explore techniques to gain body awareness, allowing them to move and perform in a more free and enjoyable manner.   Each one-time class is 2 hours in length and is limited to between 8 and 12 students.
