While their music lifts our hearts and souls, composers Robert Schumann and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky were both afflicted with hereditary mental illness and bouts of immense depression. Out of their afflictions came genius and beauty. Here their most expressive music is brought to life by the talented musicians of the VI Symphony, and popular Canadian pianist Ian Parker returns to Nanaimo from his home in New York City to perform Tchaikovsky’s ever-powerful, ever-stirring Piano Concerto No. 1— Music that speaks to the soul!

Join Artistic Director Pierre Simard for Pre-Concert Talk before the performance in the Port Theatre starting at 6:30 p.m. (doors will close at 6:35 p.m.for the Pre-Concert Talk and re-open prior to the performance)
Post Concert Talk following the Performance with Conductor and Musicians
